Today is a "Happy Commiserations Day" and this was celebrated with Mass at Christ Church Geelong (very Ho Hum) followed by a lunch at the Fisherman's Pier Geelong. The meal was "to kill for". One of the best meals I have had EVER!!!

Somehow this place never sleeps. We went to the airport at 5am this morning and plenty of people still up the street. Grand Canyon flight was excellent to the West Ring and the special horseshoe walk out over the canyon floor made of glass. Rather hairy. Still one must be brave.

Great few days Caravaning near Robe SA and an opportunity to celebrate Mass at the camp site for Easter Day. Lots of 4WD'ing in the sand dunes and along the beach. Then today a nail biting experience as the Maggies finally made it home by 30 points - Phew!!!!

Well this Sunday is Family Day for Collingwood and I have a new "Grand Final" singlet/uniform etc needing signing. So we will head off to Riddells Creek on Saturday night for their Saturday evening service which clears my conscience for Sunday!!!

A few more weeks in the pew at Little River (Taking the service on the 20th to spread a little heresy) and then off on tour to Turkey & Greece from March 17 and back on April 9.

Well the Birthday Boy (8 year old connor) with his sister Addison was in full flight today. A 600k (6hr) round trip but well worth it. Took the morning service in Fawkner this morning. Very friendly and welcoming (something most other Anglican parishes could learn from). A good number then went to the RSL for lunch (as they do on the 2nd sunday monthly) and great fellowship experienced. Looking forward to returning on the 5th sunday this month.

Tonight went to the Dockland with friends to celebrate our birthdays. Some belated and others jumping the gun. Either way the seafood platters were out of this world. I have never seen so much seafood on one table that was for US! US! US!

Have been attending a little semi local church with 10 regulars (8 plus us) . 6 weeks in a row, then a 4 week break looking after Saint Albans. Today greeted with "Nice to see you back". Sadly they have never asked who we were or what we do or if retired etc. Is it really asking too much to be treated as someone valued. It is no wonder people don't attend church.

Seven days on the Gold Coast with magic weather was a great break. The highlight has to be the Outdoor Spectacular Horse show. Absolutely amazing. So So Professional.

Now Saturday and out with the lawnmower. Such a come down.

On arrival the hire car was organized out of the back of a wagon. No presence in the terminal to save costs obviously. Very suss but certainly cheap. I wondered if it had an engine.

The Carrina market today has 250,000 people attend each weekend. Knowing Ros is a shopaholic - guess where we have been today?

Even the rainbow came out to especially congratulate Collingwood on a great 65 point win

What more, Fr Greg Davis from Perth was announced as the new priest for the parish coming in June.

Have you ever made your own pickles? Well if not allow 11k of green tomatoes, 4k of onions etc and about a day's labour and have the house smell for at least 3 days. Not to mention the clean up (I tend to be a messy cook)

But the result is fabulous

Parish Camp - WOW! WOW! WOW!

THE PARISH CAMP USING CARAVANS AND CABINS WAS A GREAT HIT LAST WEEKEND.

From 2 years of age to 91 years of age, the 27 campers that attended had a great experience.

From the Tanglewood Maze, Mini Golf, Gardens tour, Giant Chess Board, video games, games night, Mass and great company, what more could one want.

The only sad thing - We had to eventually go home. Still there is next year I guess.

Easter Break

The Easter break has part camping at Vaughan Springs area and taking services in the Gisborne parish. The Good Friday services were very special with the holy week symbols gradually forming the picture shown here. A very moving service. Easter day was again well attended and the egg smashing ceremony a real hit. A few days camping at Macedon and then off to Ballarat for the Parish camp later in the week. All good.

Saint Patrick's Day Family Mass at Gisborne

A great experience was had by all at today's Family Service. Many novel ways of wearing and containing green were shared.

Even the snakes (you need to know the Saint Patrick story) were tolerated, well! at least by the children.

If you are planning on attending the 10.30am Family Service at Gisborne this coming Sunday (Mar 21) it would be appropriate to wear something "Green".

This week's theme will be Saint Patrick and the challenge for all of us to proclaim the faith.

As a special treat the morning tea will be a little different and will include Green Beer, Green Wine, Green Cordial and softdrink (for the kids), green biscuits etc (I am sure you can see where this is heading)

Ros may have had her birthday on Dec 20, but it just seems to go on and on. Saturday saw the Christmas list being invited for a special get together to post celebrate the birthday and have the opportunity to catch up, sometimes after many years. A wonderful day and great to catch up with so many of Ros' special friends

Sunday night saw Ros and I attend the Cliff Richard concert at the Rod Laver Centre. This was a gift from the kids for Ros's "0" birthday.

Well of course Ros couldn't go on her own so the kids had to fork out for a chaperone as well (Me)

Cliff at 69 was nothing less than amazing and was a very special evening.

Pancake Night a real Hit

Pancake Night in Gisborne was a real hit as was the flammed Crepe Suzette (with ample brandy etc)

Over 70 of the troops assembled to share the occasion together and was a healthy number from each of the three centres.

A must for 2011111111 (oops - too much brandy) I feel.

One of the real gems in the parish of Gisborne is a young lass called Alison who has turned a magic number on Saturday last. "0's" are a true wake up call, so Ros made the "Egg Free Cake" and I added the genius part with "Fruit Loops" - Yeh Right!

On tasting this "interesting" recipe, I am just grateful that I am not allergic to eggs.

Had a great service in Riddells Creek today and as we took the van to there, we were able to head off to Adelaide after the service and cuppa. Boy what a hot day. The 4WD was real sluggish, and after advice from my Werribee Guru (Sam) we realised I had some dirty fuel. So in Nhill we purchased some magic formula to add to the Diesel tank and off we went. Went like a charm. We had enough by the time we arrived at Bordertown, so have pitched camp for the night. We will head for Adelaide tomorrow morning. Thanks to the airconditioning we are able to survive things and Ros is currently in the shower cooling off. As someone said at Riddells Creek this morning, if you have to slum it, slum it in style. My sentiments exactly.

Oh yes, Ros just finished the shower only to find she kept her watch on. Maybe she was timing herself. Yeh! Right!

Ros & I spent last night night (and a day either side) in the CBD Melbourne with nothing particular in mind other than time together. I must admit that the experience at DFO near Jeff's Shed is mind blowing and causes MAJOR foot sore.

Then back to the apartment for the night just off Elizabeth St, a trip to Coles to stock up, and then to settle in for the night.

A little more shopping this morning and then back on the train to Hoppers and a Taxi home.

A MOST enjoyable and relaxing experience.

Might have to do this again for the Cliff Richard concert the kid's gave Ros as a gift.

Welcome to 2010

Hi and every blessing for 2010. Ros and I had a simple celebration with a 'Crownie' in the Pergola with fairy lights and a green colouring in the fernery.

I hope your new year is a ripper and bring every blessing possible.

It will certainly be a busy one for us.

Ros has started already with the vacuum cleaner. No! not a cleaning buzz. Just to get rid of 2 big white tail spiders. Very bad news.

Another project that I have been working on for the past few months is the Lent book for 2010 that a large number of parishes throughout Australia and overseas use. This year the content was written by Bishop John Parkes of Wangaratta and I think will be well received.

My role has been to put it together, publish and print it.
