Rabbits in the headlights

The meeting at Yankalilla went well but looking at the realities of keeping the parish alive in the future was, for many at the meeting, a rather frightening reality check. The thought of coming out of ones comfort zone was alarming.  Either way, I decided to give it a ago and committed till Easter to see if the 'marriage' was a good one. We will collectively decide then if we continue together.

Possible extended Locum

December 4th spending time with parishioners from Yankalilla and Delamere (SA) to see if the mix is right to assist the parish there. Time will tell if they are keen to take ministry seriously.

Life in the Fast Lane

Only realised this has not been updating. 2015 has seen a very busy year. Finished a locum at Port Adelaide at Easter and then a break before spending six weeks in the USA in June/July.  August incorporated a week on the Gold Coast with Robert and Robyn Birchmore (brother to Ros) and then I took a group to Turkey in October/November. Go Go Go. (The day after went to Swan Hill for their 150th Celebrations)

Glenelg Locum

Just completed a very happy 4 months locum at Glenelg with "Let's Celebrate" the major highlight. We had been having monthly Sunday and Thursday specials with an outreach focus which 'fortunately' proved a great success. After a week recovering in Cairns, I commence a four month stint at Port Adelaide (trying to convert them to 'Collingwood') - I wish!

Harley in Church

A Harley in church today for the baptism of "Hugo Klar".  The bike was started up with great enthusiasm and set off most of the dogs in the neighbourhood.
The teaching behind the concept is as follows.
        • The engine symbolises the person being baptised
        • The Petrol symbolises the power and presence of Jesus
        • The tap is what the parents and godparents have control of when a young child is baptised.
        • They can turn the tap on and allow the experience of Jesus to come into the baptised child’s life or they can leave the tap turned off and Jesus won’t interfere, but will be waiting there for an invitation to be part of their lives. That is because we have free will to decide to allow Jesus into our lives or not.

A great day.

One down, One to Go

Finished a wonderful month at Plympton Parish on Sunday and start a three month stint at Saint Marys (Suburb). Distributed "Fr Max's Premium Marmalade" on Sunday to thank them for their support and enthusiasm. Even got an applause after my final sermon on Sunday. Now that is a first.
The next parish
say they are looking for some new ways of outreach. It will be interesting to see the reaction I get when I suggest a few things.  Watch this space!

Plympton Locum

Currently doing a short locum at Plympton Parish for the month of June.  Instead of a sermon at the midweek service, we went of a trip to Israel for two weeks after the services. This was followed by Jewish foods for morning tea. A real buzz and good response. An opportunity to invite friends to a church function.

Check out Anna's Twins Movie in all their glory

Various movies combined to make a 5 minute video larger and greater than "Gone with the Wind". The movie is 25mb in size so may take while. However always remember, good things always come to those who wait.

New Posting

Well the slack days are over for awhile as I am back in harness in the parish of Plympton for a month commencing May 28, and then move on to Saint Mary's Parish in the suburn of the same name.

Time for a Break

Finished the 6 month full time locum at Balhannah now and living full time at our home in Hallett Cove. Still waiting on tradespersons to finish various upgrading. Off to the Barossa for a week and then back into final unpacking (I hope)

High Tea's for Parishioners

The High Tea's for parishioners who don't work throughout the day have now concluded. They were a great opportunity to get to know one another as well as some "Great" food, thanks to Ros' expertise. Next on the agenda will be the "Soup and Sandwiches" after church on Sundays (for those who work during the week) which one hopes will achieve the same result.
