A Harley in church today for the baptism of "Hugo Klar". The bike was started up with great enthusiasm and set off most of the dogs in the neighbourhood.
The teaching behind the concept is as follows.
• The engine symbolises the person being baptised
•
The Petrol symbolises the power and presence of Jesus
•
The tap is what the parents and godparents have control of when a young child
is baptised.
•
They can turn the tap on and allow the experience of Jesus to come into the
baptised child’s life or they can leave the tap turned off and Jesus won’t
interfere, but will be waiting there for an invitation to be part of their
lives. That is because we have free will to decide to allow Jesus into our
lives or not.
