1st Sunday at Gisborne

8am were most warm and receptive and happy to chat along after coffee at Lyn and Tony's home. The heaters need a lot to be desired, but they are used to this experience and it is only whimps like me who complain.
10.30 was a baptism where young Alice ruined my reputation by crying during the baptism. 'At least the devil is out of her' as they say. Lots of positive comments from the worshippers so I guess that helps one to be big headed or as I would prefer - encouraged for the future time there.
There was a clear enthusiasm for the re-instating the Family Service as more than just name only and that will commence on the 25th October and then on the 1st & 3rd Sundays monthly till further notice. This will become a very media oriented style of service with at least one sunday a month as an outreach style service. The first of these will be Pet Sunday on November 15th.
It was also great to meet up with Fr Brad's wife Karen, who was there for the baptism.
Tomorrow is scones day. I intend making morning tea for the Opp shop squad as a small way of saying we appreciate their efforts.
